Patent for Atoh1/Math1 gene therapy filed - the end is near!

Some good person has alerted me to this very informative and good news that a patent for the Atoh1/Math1 gene therapy has been filed.

It was filed in Feb 08, which is only good news because it means much have been done since.

I expect a real cure is really coming, fast. The end is near !!

This link describes a method for the isolation and culture of the organ of Corti from neonatal mice. It also proved Atoh1/Math1 healing agent is able to re-generate inner ear hearing hair cells.

Genvec going into partnership with Novartis

Novartis is entering into partnership with Genvec for their hearing and balance loss restoration programme.They are spending 5 million upfront to Genvec showing their convidence in Genvec's technology.

If the programme succeeds Genvec will recieve a further 214 million which is a great incentive for Genvec to achieve their goal.

It is nice to know that a pharmaceutical giant with about 99,000 employees and 2008 net income of more than $8 billion has finally come to play in the field of hearing and balance loss.
